Beautiful silk procession banner from a village NE of Paris. Tarnished golden embroidery spells out:
This banner has the French tricolor flag composed of individually stitched silk colored sections (vs printed on a single section of silk) on both front and back. The banner is trimmed on 3 sides with beautiful golden metal galon fringe 2″ l. Embroidery on banner is in golden metal thread and is good shape.
Front of flag has some signs of wear consistent with its use. The cream panel has some separation (see photos below) but does not affect the vintage beauty of the piece. There is a cotton layer in between the silk sections so the areas with separation can be tacked to it or an additional section of new fabric can be inserted and the silk attached to it.
One edge is trimmed in thicker golden ‘ribbon’ where it would be attached to a wooden pole for carrying in a parade or gathering. The pole is not included due to weakness.
Banner is 36″ t (to ends of fringe) x 34″ l
