Do you like puzzles?
I found a box..... one full of bits of wooden fragments.
I could tell that at least parts of the bits had belonged to a crown, but whether Humpty Dumpty could be put back together again was another story.
An evening and a day and voila.....! There are even bits of gilding remaining on it. I will take better photos later on but this gives you an idea of how happy I was after the pieces were finally fitted together. It's all there. I still can't believe it's back in this shape.
Just to make sure that the crown wasn't lonely a few other treasures that had been unearthed from a chateau made the trip back as well.
I love the Louis XVI pink shelf. It is only 6" wide but has the most beautiful colors all softened by 250 years of aging.
The fabric covered boxes did me in the minute I saw them. The colors are perfect for my girly side and they are in various sizes which makes stacking them a breeze. See the tiny metal foot stool they are perched on? It is the same sweet soft green and it was my 2nd purchase of the day (a starburst or sorcerers mirror was first).
My largest purchase you only see a peek of. It's a folding screen from the same chateau. Four panels of soft blue/green and gray floral silk are framed in a gray wooden screen with bits of blue along the edges. Each panel is topped by a ribboned bow. It is need of some work on the fabric, which I will tackle tomorrow.
Lest you think I've gone strictly pink on you, a quick glimpse of one of my darker pieces.....more of which will come tomorrow.
